Pitching, pitching, pitching

Pitching, pitching, pitching

The last couple of weeks have been a crazy and exciting whirlwind for us!

Our journey pitching nihilo and raising awareness about our mission whenever and wherever we can, continues.

The funding environment is tough at the moment, and the honest truth is that raising investment has not been an easy journey so far. Being a pre-seed business with a novel idea that requires quite a bit of research and product development, we have faced a few challenges!

But  hard work does pay off:

We have been selected as one of the top 5 sustainable start ups to pitch at the Reset Connect Climate Action Week.

After a long weekend refining our pitch, and practicing to friends and family (who must know our pitch inside out at this stage!!) we pitched nihilo to a room full of people. So far, this has been our largest pitch, and it was incredible to see how much the sustainable and ethical implications of the coffee industry resonated with everyone in the room.

We have also been selected to pitch at the FoodTech Pitch Lounge on the 25th of July, which will be a great opportunity to pitch to 100 people including investors, experts and other start ups.

Aside from pitching events, we have both been busy bees speaking with a number of larger investors focused on impact and purpose driven businesses in FoodTech, ClimateTech and Consumer Products. We are really thrilled to say that we now have a number of committed tickets by angels too!

We’ve learned a lot over the last few weeks, and it is difficult to summarise it all, but one thing we recommend all early stage founders to do: keep a record of all the questions that are thrown at you and make sure you find answers to all of them, especially if you don’t have them in the first instance. Every conversation you’ll have is different, and even 100 conversations in, we still get questions we have never had before.

And of course, we are working hard on getting a MVP (Minimum Viable Product), and have had some exciting progress on this side too. Keep your eyes peeled for updates in our next newsletter!
