We can't believe we are already halfway through summer! July has come and gone, and we have been laser focused on developing a solid MVP.
And while the world has been sipping on some much needed iced coffee in this heat, we achieved a few important milestones:
We have on-boarded our technical advisor Prof. Dr. Ian Fisk who is supporting the product development of our novel coffee substitute.
Ian is a passionate flavour scientist, leading the International Flavour Research Center at the University of Nottingham and the University of Adelaide. His interest in coffee flavour science originates from his time at Kraft Foods/Mondelez (now JDE) where he led the flavour chemistry platform for Maxwell House, Jacobs, Kenco, Carte Noire and Krönung instant coffee and Kraft Foods' 3in1 and 2in1 coffee products.
"I am delighted to be working with Morrow and look forward to an exciting journey supporting the development of a novel coffee alternative with strong nutritional and sustainability credentials" - Ian
We have visited the International Flavour Research Centre at the University of Nottingham together with the Boortmalt Innovation team, where we got an insight into the science of flavour compounds.
Ian talked us through the complex analysis of our ingredient samples, and how we can produce a chemical fingerprint for each of the ingredients.
We have now analysed a large range of ingredients, and have a good plan for the product flavours we'd like to develop.
And we have spent days and nights networking, and pitching to more investors to close our very first few investments, preparing us for a larger pre-seed raise later this year in line with our product launch.
We have a number of exciting projects that we are working on at the moment and hope to share them with you all soon!
