Coffee's Battle with Climate Change

Coffee's Battle with Climate Change

Let’s dive into the steaming world of coffee and the challenges it is currently facing. From your morning pick-me-up to cozy café chats, coffee holds a special place in our hearts and routines. But did you know that climate change is casting a dark shadow over the future of this beloved beverage?

Here's the buzz -  As the world’s demand for coffee increases, so do coffee plantations. With each new plantation, we witness the destruction of vital rainforest ecosystems. These lush habitats, home to countless species of plants and animals, are being destroyed to make way for more coffee production. It's a bitter trade-off that threatens the delicate balance of our planet's biodiversity.

And that's not all, the effects of climate change are pushing coffee producers to move to new land, higher up in the mountains. Coffee can mainly grow in temperatures between 18°C–21°C, maximum 24°C, and because our world is heating up, original coffee friendly zones, are becoming less productive and unsuitable.

While efforts have been made to promote organic plantations and increase coffee yield per hectare, these initiatives alone are insufficient to combat deforestation. As research from WWF ranks coffee as number 6 on the list of leading causes of deforestation, it’s time for a solution.

But fear not! We are rewriting the script, by recreating every aspect of the coffee experience without the bean. Our pioneering technology promises to keep the tradition of coffee rituals for future generations. From cold brew to grounds, and even down to beans, our approach will allow you the same great tasting experience, with minimal environmental impact -  offering a glimmer of hope in a coffee landscape threatened by climate change.
